An ever-increasing global society is demanding cooperation between countries through the creation of international organizations. This is a process which started to develop in the 1950s and shows unquestionable benefits nowadays. These institutions have proved to have a growing importance when it comes to defining political aspects and supranational strategies which are set in national realities. This process of creating common frameworks shared at an education level is what we mean by “Supranational Policies of Education:” those broad -mainly political- aspects set up as a series of frameworks shared by a few countries in terms of education and training such study is the prime focus of Supranational Education. In order to monitor this agreed process of construction of supranational policies at the most scientific and educational level, the Research Group on Supranational Education Policies (known by the acronym GIPES in Spanish) was established at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid in 2011 where investigation is focused on Supranational Education. Throughout the development of several projects conducted by the GIPES, the group positively viewed most positively the possibility to offer the academic community and society a space in which to share freely documents and information produced by the main international organizations which collaborate in the construction of the so-called “Supranational Education.” Consequently, this website intends to offer in an organized way online, free-access reports which organizations such as The European Union, The OECD, UNESCO, The OEI, etc. publish about different broad areas of research. These are precisely the ones which, at least in part, orientate and explain national policies in terms of education. The humble goal of this Library of Supranational Education is to make all this material accessible to anybody whoever is interested in it. GIPES expressly whises to make explicit its deep gratitude for the free documentary acces policies of all international organizations whose publications have been compiled on this page. Without their enormous generosity it would not be possible to gather all this information for free. This spirit of socializing knowledge in an altruistic way to facilitate access for researchers is the only one that has moved GIPES in this non-profit initiative, which does not have any funding and is possible thanks exclusively to the voluntary work of the members of GIPES, responsible for the collection of documents and the institutional and thematic organization that is presented on this page, a page whose idea and leadership has been developed completely free of charge and selflessly by the Coordinator of GIPES, Javier M. Valle, with the invaluable and unconditional help in all its management and development -for which we will never be sufficiently grateful- from Dr. Elena Piñana since the first moment of its creation and, currently, also with the support of Carmen Fontaneda, both researchers within GIPES. |
